Water Purifiers

Buying Guide for Water Purifier

Earth contains 71% of water but unfortunately less than 1% can be consumed by living beings. The surveys conducted on the human body reveal a fact that water is the most important thing and 70% of water is required for the body to sustain. So pure water helps growth of life for a longer time. There are many water treatment methods to purify the water from impurities caused and affecting the health. But these methods are not capable to remove at least half of the contaminants present and for which home based filtration equipment Water Purifiers exist. They help in maintaining clean water to provide good health by eliminating the pollutants and retaining minerals.

The 3 major factors involved in purchasing water purifier or water filter are Purification Technology, Type and Storage capacity. Basically water purification is done by Water Purifier using techniques like RO (Reverse Osmosis), UV Filter (Ultra Violet) and UF (Ultra Filtration). But RO and UV are most commonly used. These techniques reduce bacteria, virus, etc using processes like filtration, sedimentation, distillation, etc.

Kinds of Purification Technologies

RO Water Purifiers

RO process puts up powerful action against the germs and that’s the reason being used by all the brands. The water coming from ground seems to be hard and salinated heavily, so this technique helps reduce these negative characteristics to soften the water. Storage of water can be done and produced after filtration with the RO filter which is coming these days, but this was not the case of storage of water in the past but to collect and consume purified water for instance when needed. The technology with these kinds of purifiers does have a feature of Auto-switch-off which means when the purification using electricity is done; the appliance doesn’t use any more electricity.

UV & UF Filters

UV Systems prevent disinfection from water by using Ultra violet rays or light to provide purified water. Although municipality operates with certain measures to improve quality of water, the UV systems take water to much better standards. They are environment friendly with Go Green feature and kill micro organisms effectively. They are safe to use as no chemicals are used for the purification. RO+UV is known to be the best method and more reliable. This combination with a Double Filtration Technology, keeps the water safely stored.

When it comes to the usage of UF filter, it can be used without electricity. But the major drawback is that the filtration membrane fixed to it for purification has large holes but can prevent molecules and germs which cause the diseases, when considering RO filter which has tiny holes that can prevent the salt molecules to enter the drinking water. There’s a much advanced technique of combination of RO+UV+UF used by the famous brand Kent which gives the best results of purification.

Types of Water Purifiers

There are 4 different kinds of Purifiers which can be classified as Electrical with Storage, Non Electrical with Storage. These 2 types have an option of water storage while one uses electricity and the other don’t use electricity to purify the water respectively.

Considering the other 2 types, they are categorized into Electrical with Non-Storage, Non-Electrical with Non-Storage. These perform the purification instantly which means they don’t have an option of storing water and function with respect to electricity as mentioned for the first 2 types.

Storage Capacities for Purifiers

Water Purifiers come in various options of storage capacities like 7 Liters or Less, 7-14 Liters and Above 14 Liters. The size of these appliances raise from low to high with the storage capacity respectively. However those purifiers without storage option are too small in size.
